Complete Line of Micronutrients
Micronutrients Play a Vital Role in Plant Growth
- By GT Lead Agronomist Marc Dennis
From the building block element Hydrogen creation produced all the other elements of our
universe. Of the 100-plus known elements, twenty are thought to be essential or functional in thegrowth of plants. For plant metabolism, carbon, hydrogen and oxygen are obtained from CO2and water. The other needed elements are considered mineral nutrients and are ordinarily takenfrom the soil by the plant roots. Nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium are considered the macronutrients most needed for plant health and growth. Secondary nutrients, consisting of sulfur andmagnesium, have vital roles in various plant functions, including photosynthesis.
Micronutrients consist of six elements which are Manganese, Zinc, Iron, Copper, Boron and
Molybdenum. As crop yields continue to increase, they are often needed in greater quantities
than the soils can supply. A plant’s need for Micronutrients is essential but that is just part of thestory. Animals and humans share the same elements to help support their normal life processes. These Micronutrients that are taken up by the plants and are essential to their growth and yields, are also carried over to human and animal nutrition through that plant. Long overlooked asbeing plentiful in our soils, we are now seeing crop yield increases as many of these Micros arebeing applied. Growth Technologies offers a complete line of Micronutrients in liquid chelate orin the dry form. All can be added to our Nitro-Mag product line. Although small amounts areneeded for plant use, Micros complete the circle of plant nutrition and are essential for puttingmore muscle on your crops.
